Sentiers du Moulin (SDM), located in Lac-Beauport near Quebec City, has established itself as a world-class destination, renowned for its technical enduro, rock-slab riding, and exceptional trailbuilding quality. As a member of Québec Vélo de Montagne (QVDM), SDM is at the heart of an elite regional collective that positions the Quebec City area as a premier global mountain biking hub. SDM does not aim to replicate classic bike park models; instead, it offers a distinctive experience rooted in the glacial terrain of the Canadian Shield and driven by a unique community.
Every descent highlights the mountain’s natural relief: trails wind through rock and roots, creating an engaging riding experience where precision and line choice are at the heart of the journey.
The mountain bike network is divided into two complementary sectors, each offering a distinct experience.
SDM Sector: Progression, Flow, and Freeride This is the heart of the center. This sector offers a wide variety of trails, allowing riders to build confidence before tackling more technical challenges. Here, you’ll find flowy trails, the network’s first rock slabs, and the majority of our freeride lines. It is a favorite for both developing riders and experts looking for rhythm and airtime.
Maelström Sector: Technical and Wild The Maelström celebrates the raw character of the territory. The natural terrain dominates here, dictating the trail’s path. A world-class reference for technical enduro, this sector is famous for its long granite slabs and committed technical descents. Trails like Saga and Wolverine perfectly illustrate this approach. Slab City offers a unique experience with over 1.5 km of continuous granite riding.
Sentiers du Moulin’s reputation is built on a rigorous construction philosophy and one of the most active volunteer trailbuilding communities in North America. For nearly 20 years, these passionate builders have shaped the network with unique craftsmanship. → Learn more about our community here.
Every trail is a work of sustainable design, balancing the science of flow with natural technicality. The systematic use of rock armoring and massive wooden structures stabilizes critical sections and ensures consistent ride quality despite high traffic. This meticulous and ongoing maintenance, performed by our teams and volunteers, maintains a world-class network throughout the season.
The sustainability of the network relies on responsible riding and respectful co-habitation with the territory. Riders must follow signage, respect access rules, and adapt their speed to trail conditions and other users.
